Don't have many options that are better right now...

Worse...Zaza. Calleri...

Unproven...Fletcher...Martinez...Ayew...

Injured...Sakho...

Different style...Carroll...

No definitely not a striker,he's a attacking winger anywhere else is a waste.

Re: Should Antonio be played as a striker?
Like.Carroll, Antonio would be a good option up front as long as other players get close to him.

The strikers (albeit Zaza, Calleri) haven't been the problem this season. It's the system whereby the midfield never get close to them.

Sunderland won't sell, they'd be fucking mad. It's sad that you mugs would accept him so readily though.

Spot on jay - Defoe would be a good signing for 18 months and him and Carroll would work well together or give us two totally different options up front

Zaza, Calliera, Fletcher, Ayew, Carroll, Defoe, who was the most likely to bury that chance into the back of the net? Tired of the scepticism re Defoe .

Sadly if the situation had been reversed and Antonio put Lanzini through I would of taken the latter to have tucked it away, great game again by Lanzini.

Re: Should Antonio be played as a striker?
I repeat we should bring Toni Martinez into the first team squad NOW. I think he has the skill and physical qualities to surprise us all. He looks older than his 19 years, and is a really cool customer up front. Tony Cottee was younger when he burst into the first team so why not see what the other Toni is made of?

I doubt we have any chance of persuading Moyes to let Defoe go. In any case he's a too expensive option for the short term only.

Re: Should Antonio be played as a striker?
Antonio is more effective when he has more freedom making his well timed runs. There is too much attention on him playing up front.

I'd rather have Zsa Zsa Gabor up front and she's dead

Re: Should Antonio be played as a striker?
He isn't a striker but his movement is good and he's willing to take people on and that's what gets him chances and cause problems. Seen better strikers shank chances like that too. He did a decent job up there but we need a more mobile and deadly finisher.

Re: Should Antonio be played as a striker?
With more match experience, he will get more composure as a striker. Most of his goals are instinctive shots. He had too much time and shot too early

If that was Zaza, he would not even get himself into that goal scoring position.

You've simply HAVE to be putting that chance away.
